CBS13 Viewer Helps Folsom Family Locate Dog

FOLSOM (CBS13) – A woman’s luxury SUV was stolen, but it’s what was inside the vehicle that had her worried.
Sarah Kensky says her family hadn’t had Bear for long. The 110-pound yellow lab was just rescued from a shelter three months ago, but quickly became a part of the family.
“We just lost a dog last year and I can’t imagine losing another one,” said Sarah.
Bear was last seen Tuesday afternoon in the family car parked in front of the Folsom Whole Foods. Katie Kensky had just returned from a short vacation and decided to do a little grocery shopping.
“I missed him so much I brought him with me to the supermarket,” she said.
But when she returned from shopping, her car was missing and so was her dog.
“We don’t care about the car or the people who took the car,” said Sarah. “Whoever has him, we just want him back.”

VIRGINIA BEACH -- A family finds their missing dog after someone spotted the pet at a nearby business.
Sean Palmer, his wife, Chris, their children, and pets moved to their home on South Plaza Trail from Kansas earlier this month. A week later, their 7-month-old Black Labrador Retriever, Buck, was gone.
"It's taken me many and many a dog to find the dog I truly bonded with that's gonna be good with my family, that I could take out in the woods and just like that, he comes running back to me," said Sean Palmer. "I love that dog."
Chris Palmer let Buck and their other dog, Lily, out in the family's backyard March 15. When she heard Lily at the door, looking to come back in, she opened it. There was no sign of Buck. He got out of the yard.
A couple days later, the mailman told her the dog had been across the road in the parking lot of Advance Auto Parts. He added someone in a blue Ford Super Duty truck with a double set of back wheels was petting Buck. The Palmers believe the driver of the truck took the dog.
"It's one thing, I guess, if you lose a dog, but then to find out someone witnessed him being taken is a completely other thing. It's indescribable," Chris Palmer told 13News. "You know, it's someone's dog. He has a collar, and we were told, I guess, there's a 48-hour rule that if you pick up a dog, you have 48 hours to notify the proper authorities."
"I can't really say that, you know, if I'd have found the dog, that I'd have went knocking on every single door, but I would have made some type of effort to say outreach to somebody and say, 'Hey, is this your dog?'" stated Sean Palmer. "Like I said, I ain't never loved a dog before, never."
The Palmers have looked around their area for Buck and kept in regular contact with animal shelters.
Buck was eventually located after someone recognized the dog at a local Uhaul dealership.
Dog, Stolen 2 Years Ago, Found in Reno and Reunited with Family

MERCED COUNTY—
A little Yorkshire Terrier is back in its Planada home after a two year and 200 mile trip to Reno, Washoe County Sheriff’s say.
Buddy went missing two years ago. Officials think that he was taken from his Merced County home, brought to Reno and sold to a resident there.
“We had searched and searched for Buddy after he disappeared and, after all this time, had pretty much given up hope that we’d ever see him again,” Martha Mayo, mother of Buddy’s owner, said in a release.
At some point recently, the Buddy got loose and was found in the Lemmon Valley area, a little north of Reno.
Luckily, the dog had a chip installed in him when he was a puppy. The chip was scanned and Buddy’s original owner was soon found.
Authorities credit the microchip for helping reunite the dog with his original family.

THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - If you're a dog lover, your pet is a member of your family.
If your dog goes missing, it can be devastating.
This sheepdog comfortably sitting in Karen Clendenin's arms is two-year old rescue Punkin Pie.
Clendenin is all smiles Tuesday, but she says she will never forget that day at Cherokee Lake.
"We had a martingale collar on her. She wiggled out of it and just took off running. And never stopped running."
Clendenin says she and her family searched for Punkin Pie over the next several months, posting flyers around town and putting her picture in the paper.
"We had so many sightings, we never could get to her. She's so skiddish, in fact right now she is shaking in my arms."
But Monday morning Clendenin says she received some incredible news.
Clendenin's daughter Kim spotted Punkin Pie while driving her son Chip to school.
With the help of Animal Control director Pat Smith, and some Vienna sausage, Punkin was captured and brought back to her Thomasville home.
Clendenin was amazed when she learned where her Punkin Pie was living and how she managed to gain a few pounds over the last year.
"Sleeping in the woods is all we can come up with because she never went in anyone's home and the family said that they couldn't catch her. And they didn't know she was lost or that a family was looking for her."
Smith told Clendenin a family on the other side of town helped keep Punkin Pie alive.
"A really sweet lady had been putting dog food out, feeding her dog, and I guess at night or anytime to she could get up there, Punkin Pie was getting food."
And Punkin has been receiving some royal treatment since she's been home.
"Last night she got up in our bed and we fed her bacon. How much better can it get than that? So lot's of love and treats."
Clendenin says the day after Punkin Pie ran away she was scheduled to be spayed and get a microchip.
Clendenin says from now on, she'll put a harness on Punkin Pie when she goes outside.
