Archie, the Norfolk Terrier stolen in Hampstead, has been reunited with his family today (Tuesday), thanks to the New Journal.

The owners of the little dog, taken last Monday from outside a supermarket in South End Green, received a tip off that Archie, who is on special medication, was being held at an address in Cricklewood.

Shelley King, an actress who has appeared in TV series EastEnders, Atlantis and Bombay Dreams, told the New Jounal tonight of how she had endured a living nightmare since Archie was stolen - and of her relief when she finally got her 13-year-old pet back.

The drama unfolded this afternoon (Tuesday) when the distraught family received a call from a woman who said she may have information as to where Archie was being held.

"She asked us to met her an address in Cricklewood," said Ms King.

"We called the police and they said to us if we felt safe going to see if it was Archie on our own, we should do so. It was a woman and so we thought we would check it out."

They went to the house and there waiting for them was their beloved pet.

The woman claimed she had bought Archie for £200 and then had read the heartbreaking story in the New Journal - and so the couple said they should call the police as she had been sold stolen goods. At this point, she changed her mind and said she had found the dog.

"She kept apologising," said Mrs King. "Archie was completely delighted to see us. Who knows what type of ordeal he has been through? We have been completely beside ourselves, feeling so terrible since the moment we realised he had gone missing."

The New Journal published the family's story in our edition on Thursday - and people across the borough have been keeping their eyes peeled for little Archie.

"We called the New Journal because we knew absolutely everyone reads it," said Ms King.

"So many people told us not to give up hope - and thanks to the New Journal, we have got him back home. We owe the paper a massive thank-you - and we've given Archie plenty of tickles under the chin."
