NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) - A north Nashville family thought they'd lost their dog forever when he disappeared from their lawn almost a year ago.

Facebook helps family reunite with lost dog

A volunteer group called East C.A.N. posted a dog's picture on their Facebook page, which ended up being a family's pet that had been missing for months.

On Saturday they were reunited with him, thanks to Facebook.

Bobby Lyons says when her dog, Boxx, went missing about a year ago, her family was devastated.

She didn't know how they would find the 11-year-old pit bull mix.

"I told my husband somebody's got our dog. So we were hoping that he'd return but more days passed. Because Boxx is so friendly and lovable, he had not returned until yesterday," Lyons said.

The family was reunited with Boxx after the volunteer group East C.A.N. posted Boxx's picture on their Facebook page.

Lyons's granddaughter recognized Boxx and contacted the group, who brought the dog home.

Lyons says she considers Boxx's return a miracle and that her family is grateful to East C.A.N. for their help.
